A deadly snake of Africa which hides itself in the thick forests is the cousin of the deadly black Mamba. This is Green Mamba, a lethal beauty which is a bit lighter and slim than the black Mamba. The Green Mamba belongs to the family Elapidae. Green Mamba is further classified in two categories;
1- The Eastern Green Mamba
2- The Western Green Mamba

The eastern green mamba has a very brilliant green skin with a lighter bright greenish-yellow belly. The eastern green Mamba is much smaller than other Mamba species with an average length of 1.6 meters. The Male Eastern Green Mambas are bit larger than their females. They are endemic to the Southern and Eastern African regions. The Eastern Green Mamba lives in the trees, coastal scrub, woodland, moist savanna, bamboo and mango plantations. The Eastern Green Mambas are hardly seen on the ground chasing their prey. They may creep with a speed of 7m/h thus they are very fast movers. The Eastern Green Mamba is a very poisonous snake though not an aggressive snake. The venom consists mainly of neurotoxins, cardiotoxins, calcicludine, and fasciculins. The Eastern Green Mamba preys normally during the day and its diet consists primarily of adult and juvenile birds, bird eggs, frogs, lizards, rodents, and other small mammals. The Eastern green mamba is called Dendroaspis angusticeps scientifically.

The Western Green Mamba is comparatively longer but a very disastrous snake which lives in the tropical woodlands of West Africa. Some of their population is also observed near hedges and shrubs. They are also distinctive because of their long tapering tail. The average length of the Western Green Mamba may be of 2 meters while some of its species can grow to maximum lengths of 3.2 meters. The Western Green Mamba normally hunts birds even bats and small mammals like rodents, mouse and squirrels. The Western Green Mambas may vary in their colors but mostly they are found in greenish yellow, olive green, emerald green etc. Unlike the Eastern Green Mamba, they can hunt their prey at night as well. If attacked, the Western Green Mamba might very aggressive and wild. In fact this is the most agile snake in the Mamba family. Scientifically, the Western Green Mamba is known as Dendroaspis viridi. They love to take rest in the dense and thick cover of the branches of the trees. The venom of the Western Green Mamba consists mainly of neurotoxins, cardiotoxins, and fasciculins and the average venom yield per bite is approximately 100 mg.
Green Mamba, the lethal beauty is mainly endangered by humans and some predators like prey birds.
Republic of South Korea has some spectacular places that are known for their beauty. Boseong is one of them. It is situated in the southern coast of Korean Peninsula in the province of Jeollanam. This place is specially known for the wonderful tea gardens. It is also the birthplace of the Korean independence activist Philip Jaisohn.
The green tea was introduced to Korea around 1000AD from China. The Boseong was considered the perfect place for green tea cultivation due to its mild climate and fertile soil. During the Japanese occupation of Korea in the early 20th century it became more productive and fruitful and since then Boseong is producing approximately 40% of the nation’s green tea output. Large areas of Boseong consists of mountains such as Mangil-Bong, Jonje Mountain and Joowol Mountain.
The view of lush green tea fields in the aromatic atmosphere puts pleasant reflexes to the visitor. However walking through these fields also requires due care as these are the valleys of poisonous snakes. The way of Korean women working in the fields and picking tea leaves by their hands is also worth seeing. The tea leaves are harvested in the spring time because that is when new small leaves grow on the bushes and they plucked to be dried to make green tea. After plucking, they are kept in the tea plantation stores and tea tasting rooms.
Daehan Tea Plantation is the most visited place in this area. This is the oldest, largest and the loveliest tea garden. Containing of an area over some 561 hectares of hillside, the fields are a magnificent mix of rows of green tea and beautiful forests.There is also a historic place known as Beolgyo on a 45 minutes drive in the east of downtown Boseong, on the road to Suncheon where visitors can learn about the catastrophic cauldron of colonialism, polarization and war in which modern South Korea was born.
