Marion Cotillard, the French Oscar Winner has earned ultimate fame in France for singing as well as acting. She was born on September 30, 1975 in Paris, France. Cotillard had a craze for showbiz right from her childhood and she got the deserved attention from her parents who were very active theater performers. They encouraged Cotillard to start her career on stage and screen. Cotillard started playing minor roles on small screen in some of the television series. As a film actress, Cotillard appeared in small roles in the mid-1990s in the films as  My Sex Life or How I Got Into an Argument and in the comedy La belle verte. Cotillard got the prominence after the release of Taxi in 1998 and she was nominated for a Most Promising Actress award at the 1999 César ceremonies for her performance in that movie.

The major breakthrough occurred in the career of Marion Cotillard when she was starred with Guillaume Canet in the romantic comedy film Love Me If You Dare as Sophie Kowalsky, the daughter of Polish immigrants. Similarly she performed a major role in the film Big Fish as Josephine the French wife of William Bloom. A very long Engagement, Mary, A Good Year and Innocence were also very successful movies of Cotillard.

Marion Cotillard got the global fame when she portrayed the French singer Édith  Piaf in the biopic La Vie en Rose. Her performance was admired throughout the world and on 10 February 2008, Cotillard was awarded with the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Marion Cotillard also became the first actress to win a Golden Globe for a foreign language performance since 1972. Marion Cotillard won the Best Actress Academy Award for her role as Édith Piaf inLa vie en rose (2007) (retitled “La Vie en Rose” in the United States) and thus she also became the second actress to win an acting Oscar performing in a language other than English next to Sophia Loren who won for Two Women (1960).

Marion Cotillard, the French Oscar Winner is also an environmentalist and she has participated very actively in many environmental campaigns. Cotillard used her high public profile to bring attention to the aims of Greenpeace, working for the environmental organization as a spokesperson, allowing the organization to use her apartment to test products.
